The following information gives a brief description of the curriculum areas that will be covered in Grades Three/Four at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School in 2024.
Class timetables and other information can be found in the flyer that was sent home.
Grade Three and Four will continue to be taught Mathematics separately. Mr Lawrence will teach Grade Threes and Mrs Phelan will teach Grade Fours.
Our Maths program is based on the Stepping Stones program.
Each child has their own special maths book and lessons are delivered each day for one hour.
Once again, the school is taking a different approach to weekly homework tasks.
Our first change is new terminology - HOME LEARNING.
Expectations for 2024 in Grades Three and Four are as follows:
Students are expected to read for up to 20 minutes each day at home and have their diary signed. Consequences for consistently not completing reading each night will apply, ie: reading at lunchtime the following day.
Throughout the year there will be a times tables focus each week. Worksheets or appropriate activities will be sent home and be expected to be completed. A times tables quiz will be given each Friday to monitor students' times tables progress.
P.E lessons will be taught by Mr Breewel on Friday for both grades.
Sport will also be on Monday.
Students are to wear their sport uniform on these days.
