About Mr. Breewel

I am originally from Bendigo but moved to Mildura in 2004. I am married with 4 children.

I did various jobs, including cleaning and delivery driving before becoming a teacher. I have taught at Bendigo North Primary School, Sacred Heart Primary School, Mildura and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Primary School, Merbein. I started at OLSH in 2013. At OLSH I have taught PE, Grades 2, 4 and 5. I am looking forward to teaching PE again and getting to know the children across the school.

I love most sports and have played football, cricket, tennis, basketball and netball in my younger days. I am a football umpire and have been umpiring for 36 seasons. I love to promote a healthy lifestyle and hope that I can pass this passion onto the children I teach.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: PE

RELIGION

I teach PE to every class for one hour each week. During these lessons the children will focus on developing fundamental motor skills, learning the skills used in different sports, working together in teams, developing team strategies in game situations and the importance of healthy eating and maintaining strong fitness levels.

Some important dates to remember are:

Monday 26th February - Friday March 1st: Swimming Program - children from Grades 3-6 will be involved in the program which focuses on water safety. These lessons will be conducted by qualified instructors. (Children in Grades Prep - 2 will be involved in another swimming program later in the year).

Tuesday April 23rd: OLSH Cross Country run will be held at Kenny Park Reserve from 9:30am. All children compete in the cross country run at their age level. Distances range from 1km - 3kms.

Tuesday August 13th: OLSH Athletics Day. Children will compete in a variety of athletics events at their age level. Points are collected throughout the day for your child's sport house.

Representative Sport: Children from Grades 3-6 have opportunities to represent OLSH at various sports throughout the year. The Grade 5/6 children will be involved in the Winter and Summer sports competition against Merbein P-10 and The Lake Primary Schools.

Children representing OLSH are selected based on performances at our events and behaviour during classes.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School is a Roman Catholic School and is a part of the St. Anne & St. Joachim parish situated in Merbein. At OLSH we provide children with opportunities to engage in Religion using a global lens, to learn lessons from the Bible, to embrace different religions and be involved in lessons that deepen their thinking.

We have a Church onsite which we utilise for Masses and liturgies. Upcoming Masses and liturgies are listed below and all families are invited to join us to celebrate Masses and liturgies.

Thursday 8th February: Beginning of Year Mass @ 12:30pm OLSH Church.

Wednesday 14th February: Ash Wednesday Liturgy @ 1:00pm OLSH Church

Thursday 28th March: Easter Liturgy @ 12:30pm OLSH Church

Monday April 29th - Friday May 3rd: Catholic Education Week

Friday May 10th: Mother's Day Liturgy

Sacramental Program

The children at OLSH have opportunities throughout the year to be involved in the Parish Sacramental Program. Through these programs the children will learn and develop understandings of the different sacraments and finish by making their sacrament. These include the sacraments of reconciliation (Grade 2 and above), confirmation (Grade 3 and above) and first eucharist (Grade 4 and above). Below are the dates of the Sacramental Program that parents need to be aware of if they wish their child to make the sacraments.

2024 SACRAMENTAL DATES

Confirmation (Grade 3 and above)

Parent Meeting: 27th March 7pm, Sacred Heart Church.

The celebration dates are as follows: Friday 17th May, Saturday 18th May and Sunday 19th May.

First Eucharist (Grade 4 and above)

Parent Meeting: 28th August 7pm, Sacred Heart Church.

The celebration dates are as follows: Friday 25th October, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October.

First Reconciliation (Grade 2 and above)

Parent Meeting: 16th October 7pm, Sacred Heart Church.

The celebration date: Wednesday 27th November 6pm or 7pm, Sacred Heart Church.
