Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic College is proud to be the convenor for the 2019 Marist Netball Carnival.
The College has a strong tradition of serving the people of Central Australia for the past 81 years. For the past 36 years, it has served under the leadership of the Marist Brothers. OLSH Primary school commenced in 1938 under the direction of the OLSH Sisters, and quickly it established itself as a significant educator in Central Australia. The Sisters also established schooling for Aboriginal children, firstly at the Charles Creek Mission in Alice Springs, then at Arltunga for about ten years, and finally at Santa Teresa where it moved to in 1953. The Marist Brothers started Catholic High School at the current Sadadeen sight in 1983, and it combined with OLSH Primary in 1997 to form OLSH Catholic College.
OLSH College is a Transition to Year 12 School situated across three campuses: Bath Street, Traeger, and Sadadeen. The total school population is about 750, and although not a large school, we have a strong sense of family spirit and are quite proud of both our OLSH and Marist traditions, and of our committed involvement in Marist sporting events.
The Marist Netball Carnival committee, under the leadership of Sadadeen Teaching and Learning Curriculum Coordinator, Ms Penny Reid, has worked tirelessly to make this carnival a successful one, full of both spirit and involvement. I extend my thanks to this committee for their hard work, commitment, generosity, time, and talent. I would also like to thank the many volunteers from our school staff, parent body and students for their generous support.
On behalf of the organising committee and the whole college community, I wish to extend to all our visitors: players, officials and Marist community members, a friendly and heartfelt welcome to our fair city, and wish you well in this competition.
