As a Catholic school, and as a proud partner of the FIRE Foundation, we are called to serve all students. As found in scripture, church documents, and Catholic Social Teaching, we are all made in HIS image. We must embody the phrase “All are Welcome” in our educational practices.
Using the educational framework of Universal Design for Learning, we can proactively meet the needs of all learners. We can use a variety of ways to engage and educate students with different learning styles and needs.
Inclusive Education ensures a state of being valued, respected, and supported. It’s about focusing on the needs of every individual and ensuring the right conditions are in place for each person to achieve his or her full potential. Inclusion is a set of behaviors (culture) that ensures everyone is educated and valued while embracing their unique qualities. It allows everyone to experience a sense of belonging. Jesus reached out to the marginalized and welcomed all. He calls us to do likewise.
Inclusive Catholic Education Inclusion is an approach in which all children, regardless of ability, learn together in the same school. Inclusion is a philosophy, not a location. Students are always grade-level students, first and foremost. Some will be identified as having learning challenges. Special support is available to ensure optimal learning for students with special learning needs.
