Physical Education Grading Rubric
*The teacher reserves the right to reduce more or less points depending on circumstance*
1. 10 points given daily
- -3 pts. for poor warm-ups
- -3 pts. for poor participation
- -1 pt. exit ticket and/or informal assessments
- -1 pt. for lack of sportsmanship
- -2 pts. not prepared for class (including having improper footwear-) and/or tardy to class
**Proper footwear includes tennis shoes-no Sperry's, dress shoes, shoes without laces, etc.)**
2. Skills tests, worksheets, projects
- Scored individually with a possibility of 5-50 pts.
3. Students are excused from physical activity without missing points in the following situations
o Parent note excusing the student from activity because of extenuating circumstances
o Medical note excusing the student from activity because of extenuating circumstances
o Student becomes ill or injured during class
4. Grading Scale
- 10/10 = 100%
- 9/10 = 90%
- 8/10 = 80%
- 7/10 = 70%
- 6/10= 60%
Physical Education Steps to Behavior
The following are the steps for behavior improvement in Mr. Coatney's P.E. class. *Mr. Coatney reserves the right deviate from the steps depending upon severity of the student's action*
1. a. Grades K-4
i. Warning
ii. Consequence (loss of points, removal from game, laps, privileges taken away in classroom)
iii. Think Sheet and loss of 50% of daily points
iv. Sent to office, Think Sheet sent home to be signed and an email/phone call home
v. Conference
b. Grades 5-8
i. Warning
ii. Check & 3/10 of points lost for the day.
iii. Second check & 5/10 points lost for the day. (Students, who receive the consequence at level III, at any point in the year, will only receive a warning for the rest of the quarter. Any further consequences needed after a warning will result in two checks and 5/10 of points lost for that day.)
iv. Sent to the office and loss 10/10 of daily points, Formal Write up (Think Sheet) sent home to be signed, and Phone call/Email sent home
