Selena Scott, STEM
My name is Selena Scott and I am the STEM teacher for our Kindergarten through 8th grade students. I am from Monticello, and received my Bachelors in Elementary Education with licensing also in Elementary STEM K-6, Computer Technology (K-12), and Kindergarten from Ball State University in 2001. This will be my 19th year at Our Lady of Grace where I have held many positions from classroom teacher to reading specialist to technology teacher to my current position as STEM teacher which has been my greatest reward. I have presented STEM Education both at the state and national levels, with featured talks on podcasts and online conferences. I have a passion for STEM education and for teaching students to work in an everchanging world. I love creating lifelong learners who are also passionate about the world around them and who use their 21st century skills to change the world.
Besides my work as the STEM teacher, I have the privilege of being the Robotics Director for the Our Lady of Grace Robonauts for the past nine years. Our teams have made it to the state and world championships multiple years. Robotics is my passion and I love to see our students thrive in this environment.
Elizabeth Ahlgrim, 4th Grade
My name is Elizabeth Ahlgrim. Originally from Carmel, Indiana, I have been an educator for more than 20 years. I have a music degree and an education degree from Indiana University. I have taught grades 2, 4, and 5 at Our Lady of Grace and have worked with our Learning Differences Program. Currently in 4th grade I am focusing on math and science. Working on the STEM program at OLG has shown me how valuable these skills are for the future of our world. I also know that STEM can be a great equalizer for students with nontraditional learning abilities. My team has attended and presented at many conferences on a local, state and national level for both public and private schools. Showing teachers how to utilize STEM ideals in their classrooms---even beyond math and science classes- gives inspiration to collaboration with other schools, greater communication between teachers of similar grade levels, and a more cohesive understanding of what STEM standards can be in schools.
Michael Mino, Middle School Math
My name is Michael Mino. I have been the Our Lady of Grace, Middle School Mathematics teacher since 2022. I have a K-6 license with Middle School Math and Science endorsements. Additionally, I teach our middle school coding club which integrates product design, coding, electrical engineering and product development. I came to Our Lady of Grace through the Transition to Teaching program at Ball State and graduated in 2021. I have Graduate level training from Ball State University and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angles. I have extensive professional career experience in finance, product research design and development, computer engineering, software design, coding and network management. My classroom approach focuses on research based data driven instruction with a focus on meaningful real-world application of math and engineering skills for students.
