Tuesday, Sept. 12

• Prepare for tomorrow's first (real) "ladder timing".   It will test the 1's time table (up to 1x10) AND the 2's time table (up to 2x10).  That's 20 problems in ONE minute.  Can you do it?

• Math:  Complete the subtraction ws that you did NOT choose during math class today.

• Correct last week's vocab. test, get it signed, and kindly bring it back tomorrow.

• Spend the rest of your 40-minute homework session READING.  Blank book reports were passed out for whenever you finish a novel, you can start right in on the book report.  Keep them in a "handy" spot.

Thursday, Sept. 7

• Tomorrow is our first Vocabulary test!  (Unit 1).  All students were urged to bring home their workbooks to review the meanings and usage of the 12 new words in Unit 1.  Maybe someone at home can "quiz" them?

• Vocab:  Finish your 12 "gooood" sentences that we started in class today.  Remember that a good sentence is the type that gives clues as to what the vocabulary word means.

• Math:  Addition coloring (shading) worksheet

Wednesday, Sept. 6

• Parent homework is due tomorrow if at all possible

• Please bring back Wednesday folder ~ empty and signed

Tuesday, Sept. 5

• Parent homework was assigned today.  Please fill out the questionnaire about your child by Thursday.

• Math:  We practiced locating and working on a website called FactMonster in class.  Students should complete FOUR subtraction exercises, record their scores, and get parent signatures.  Please send in a note if any technical difficulties arise that prevent this assignment from getting completed by tomorrow morning.

**Since Tuesday, Sept. 5th is "all business", it might be a good idea to review your summer reading - especially if you read them at the beginning of the summer. 

Thursday, Aug. 31

• Students were encouraged to speed up the recall of their addition facts to prepare for tomorrow's 100-problem timing.

• Some students were given a yellow index card listing their missing summer IXL modules.  If no card was given,  all modules were completed!   :)

• Friendly reminder to wear formal uniforms tomorrow.

Wednesday, Aug. 30

• We made it through Day #1 with flying colors!  What an outstanding day!

• Some students are missing a few school supplies.  I have asked them to bring those items in just as soon as they are able.

• Students were encouraged to "brush up" on their addition and subtraction facts as we will begin our math lessons with a review of this.  We talked about "summer brain" today.    :)
