Thursday, Sept. 7
Tomorrow is our first Vocabulary test! (Unit 1). All students were urged to bring home their workbooks to review the meanings and usage of the 12 new words in Unit 1. Maybe someone at home can "quiz" them?
Vocab: Finish your 12 "gooood" sentences that we started in class today. Remember that a good sentence is the type that gives clues as to what the vocabulary word means.

Parent homework was assigned today. Please fill out the questionnaire about your child by Thursday.
Math: We practiced locating and working on a website called FactMonster in class. Students should complete FOUR subtraction exercises, record their scores, and get parent signatures. Please send in a note if any technical difficulties arise that prevent this assignment from getting completed by tomorrow morning.

Students were encouraged to speed up the recall of their addition facts to prepare for tomorrow's 100-problem timing.
Some students were given a yellow index card listing their missing summer IXL modules. If no card was given, all modules were completed! :)

We made it through Day #1 with flying colors! What an outstanding day!
Some students are missing a few school supplies. I have asked them to bring those items in just as soon as they are able.
Students were encouraged to "brush up" on their addition and subtraction facts as we will begin our math lessons with a review of this. We talked about "summer brain" today. :)
