Term 4 - Leaders in Training

Welcome back to what I'm sure will be an action packed term in Year 5. This term we have begun talking about our transition into being leaders of the school next year when we enter Year 6. We have devised a system of daily leaders where students are in charge of leading the class in our morning and afternoon prayers as well as making some other choices for the day. We have also been discussing how, as leaders, we can demonstrate a growth mindset to others around us as opposed to a fixed mindset.

We have started off with procedural writing this term with students writing procedures on how to make something crafty and making it into an e-book. These can be accessed on students iPads in the app Book Creator if you would like to take a look! In Maths we began with working on division, a great skill for all students to have. If you would like some extra practice just let Mrs Harrison know!

Over in Digital Technologies we are working hard on completing our digital licence, learning lots about cyber safe practices and how to be a good digital citizen. Media Arts is our focus for The Arts this term along with our Visual Arts projects that have been integrated into various learning areas. We are looking at completing a range of photography projects with students considering image composition and incorporating digital technology through editing images in SnapSeed.
