Course Description
Art and Design is an explorative class of the basic elements of art and principles of design. Some of the mediums that are often explored over the course of the semester are pencil, acrylic or tempera paint, charcoal, colored pencils, pen and ink and/or mixed media. Emphasis is placed on problem solving and designing while using the principles of`design to create a wide variety of works of art, including perspective studies. Three dimensional methods will also be explored. Some possibilities that may be explored are clay, papier-mache’ and/or wire. Students will maintain a working portfolio and a sketchbook to develop their individual ability. This class also includes aspects of art history, art criticism, and aesthetics.
