Mr. Pennington

About Me

I am starting my 30th year as the Olivet Agriscience Teacher and FFA Advisor.  It is hard to believe this much time has gone by.   I am married to Dawn Pennington and my son, Marcus, is attending Michigan State this year.  I teach Vet Science, Botany, Leadership, and Agricultural Business Management and Marketing.  Students who take these classes will learn many animal science skills, skills related to growing plants, how to improve their  leadership skills, and important business skills.

FFA membership is highly recommended for all students in these classes.  Many think that you must be interested in animals or have a farm background to be a member, which couldn't be further from the truth.  A desire to improve leadership skills and use agriculture (the 2nd largest industry in Michigan and the United States) as a tool for learning is all that is needed.    The power of FFA is seeing the tremendous leadership growth (ability to talk with others, lead a group, plan activities, and so much more) that occurs during their FFA journey.

I am an avid Michigan State University sports fan as I graduated from MSU.   I have also been a DJ since college and enjoy playing for weddings and parties.

 Interesting Notes

Michigan's food and agriculture system is a large portion of this state’s workforce. Total employment resulting from this sector is 923,000 which accounts for about 22 percent of the state’s employment.  For more information about agriculture click on the following: https://www.fb.org/newsroom/fast-facts
