Experiential Learning During Early Years

Experiential learning is the practice of learning through doing. ‘Learning by doing’ creates a rich platform for deeper learning, accelerated learning, and real-world skills and character development. It encourages the student to have first-hand experiences with the materials, rather than learning through someone else’s experiences in textbooks or lectures. Research has proven that students of all ages learn better during initiatives that involve applying concepts in practice, in order to solve real-world problems, actively make decisions, and then reflect on the outcomes or consequences of their learning actions and decisions. It’s a learning style that has been studied thoroughly for decades, and one that is proven to be beneficial for all ages of students. Experiencing, observing, analyzing, and experimenting are a few of the important factors of experiential learning. The activities need not necessarily be complex or difficult—they can be effective as long as the student is gaining his or her own individual experiences. For example, planting a seed and observing its growth, rather than just reading about germination or looking at pictures in a textbook.

Experiential learning is a method of learning where children actively participate in the learning process. It makes lessons personal to children by including them in the instructing process. Classes can become fun activities for children in this way. Learning and growth happen quickest when a child is able to devote their full attention to a topic, especially if that topic poses an age-appropriate challenge. Children can gain a deeper understanding of content when allowed to act on it, and when they are fully interested in the content. This helps the nerves in the brain to create stronger connections when a child associates motor functions with new information, which can lead to higher memory retention.

Experiential learning can help by being an activity that children can participate in, the lesson can become a more personalized exercise of hands-on exploration. Practical knowledge is typically gained when children encounter obstacles and are given the opportunity to develop their problem-solving skills to overcome these challenges. Allowing preschoolers to actively participate in daily processes can establish life skills that can benefit their future growth and learning. Experiential learning gives children a sense of accomplishment that can develop their self-esteem and fuel their desire to learn. When they take ownership of a situation, with help from adults, children can learn how to follow their ambitions without being afraid to try something new or struggle at first. the active and engaged nature of inquiry-based and experiential learning means that the chances of students becoming bored or losing interest can be far less likely.

Math - Up and Down

Up And Down is a Concept Builder that focuses on the topic of vertically-launched projectiles. The interest is understanding how the velocity and acceleration change (or don't change) over the course of the object's motion.

Our little learners are able to identify the concept up and down by showing the real object displayed in the classroom for eg. a big ball, toys, etc through this activity learners are able to demonstrate understanding of the terms up and down and use the term up and down to describe the direction of movement of objects.

Sports - Free Play !!!

Free play teaches children how to entertain themselves and helps them learn to think independently and develop decision-making skills. It provides opportunities for children to discover what interests them and what they are good at. Free play teaches kids to play with others.

Nursery learners freely played in swing, seesaw, slide, etc in a school park. It promotes a fit body, helps with digestion, improves mood, lowers blood pressure, increases white blood cells, and gives more energy.

English - Letter Uu.

Knowing the sounds associated with each letter in the alphabet helps children build a solid foundation for a variety of tasks — from reading activities to writing activities —and helps develop confident learners.

Nursery learners were able to identify the letter u and their related pictures, then they arranged the letter u with some different materials like pom-pom balls, shells, etc. It improves their communication, social, and handwriting skills, and teaches them what they need to know about writing and structuring letters.

Math: See the Sequence

Ordering, sequencing, and patterning are important foundational skills for mathematics. The sequence of development is the pattern/order of development a child follows. Sequencing is the ability to create and identify patterns.

Learners of K 1 did the activity of sequencing numbers in their scarp book. They did the activity of sequencing the strips in a sequence from 1-7 and then stuck them in an orderly manner in the scrapbook and created a beautiful image of a castle.

Library: It's my reading time

Reading is important because it develops your mind and gives you excessive knowledge and lessons about life. It helps you understand the world around you better. It keeps your mind active and enhances your creative ability. Reading improves your vocabulary and develops your communication skills. Understanding more vocabulary words will further help them in their reading and writing skills.

Learners of K 1 had chosen their favourite book from the bookshelf during their reading time. They developed the quality of being calm and quiet while being in a Library.

STREAM: Super Solar System

The Solar System is made up of the Sun and eight planets. The best way to introduce the solar system to our little learners is by a diorama.

Learners of K1 learned that everything in the Solar System revolves around the Sun and Sun is a star ( a massive ball of hot gas that gives off light and heat). There are eight planets that orbit around the Sun and facts related to different planets make them unique.

Math- The Purple World....

Colour is defined as the aspect of things that is caused by differing qualities of light being reflected or emitted by them. Colours make the surroundings beautiful and fill life in each and every object.

K2 learners are much aware of primary colours and secondary colours too. To attain the experience of how secondary colours are made, they did an activity where they mixed two primary colour of sand- red and blue, and they discovered that the sand turned purple. Additionally, they used red and blue gelatin paper to see their surrounding purple. It was a purple way to see the world.

Horticulture

People of all ages can enjoy gardening, but children, in particular, will have lots of fun and gain special benefits.

K2 learners learned to grow ginger, garlic, and aloe vera. For growing the ginger, they will leave it in water until the roots came out which should be 1 to 2 inches long, to propagate in water. For growing aloe vera, they will replant the aloe vera stems. For growing garlic, they will break the bulb up and plant clove in the soil. Each clove will grow into a new bulb of garlic.

It's My Birthday!

A birthday brings you endless joy and tons of precious memories!

The birthday of our little learner Pranshi Modi were celebrated with great enthusiasm along with all their friends in the class. Learners wished the birthday stars, sang the birthday song, and had lots of fun with each other.

Art Mela

"Art washes from the soul, the dust of everyday life."

An event full of colours, shapes, ideas, and efforts was celebrated on a grand scale Art Mela. It connected different forms visually and showed contrast, difference, indifference, and agreement between objects. It gathered ideas together, and pointed to them, within and beyond the imagination. It showcased the inner talents of our learners who received admiration. The onlookers were frenzy with exaltation. An Inter-school art competition was also conducted, where the learners of RBK and also the learners of different schools were invited to show their gift and expertise. All the learners did their best. The competition ended with the prize distribution. The Art Mela started with the welcome song by the RBK Global school learners. Then the chief guests were felicitated with a flower bouquet. Most of the people who attended the art mela were happy and excited. Such platforms enhance the quality of their lives bring about personal enjoyment and also give opportunities for public involvement.
