encouraging love for Learning

It is true that learning never ends in life. Moreover, upgrading knowledge can only be possible, if the student is naturally inclined to think, brainstorm for new ideas, learn new things. Therefore, curiosity is a significant factor.

A child’s mind is very proactive and it needs constant nourishment to continually shape it. When a child asks a question, the answer or the way to finding the answer should be made available to him as you do not want children to lose that inquisitive side. If a learner stops questioning and does not try to find answers about his surroundings then he won’t be able to come up with new ideas.

A lot of questions arise in our daily life but when we stop questioning then learning becomes monotonous. Answering them on time and letting them grow naturally is also essential. Inquirers are essential for shaping the future of society. As early childhood care givers, we must always appreciate those who ask a lot of questions and love to answer all the questions in a well-reasoned way.

This is an old age phenomena but reveals a true picture of good learning based on questioning.

LEARNING ENGAGEMENTS @ NURSERY

Math: Let's practice numbers 1 to 9

Learning to write numbers is a key skill that helps lay the foundation for handwriting and math skills later in life. Handwriting skills help children develop reading and spelling skills. It also helps with the ability to recall and remember information. To enhance these skills, nursery learners wrote number 1 to 9 in their square line notebook. They were well- versed with the formation and were able to write independently. Our learners are now able to write the numbers with confidence. Through this learning they enhanced their writing, reading, listening, organizational skill. It was challenging for the learners as they had to write 1 to 9 numbers at a time in the notebook.

Theme : let's build a home for animals

A Shelter is one of the basic needs of animals as well as humans. When children let their minds explore, the doors of imagination stay wide open.

Nursery learners have always been ecstatic while exploring materials like clay and Popsicle sticks. One such engagement was conducted where the learners got an opportunity to showcase their talent of manipulating these materials. For this, they took some clay, Popsicle sticks and they placed a toy animal in between and constructed colorful Homes for animals. Such engagement helps enhance their fine motor, cognitive and creative imagination skills.

Art: i can trace my hand

Fine motor activities help children develop writing and self-care skills, gross motor builds confidence and fitness, sensory play allows children to learn with all their senses, science activities spark curiosity, and games make learning fun!

Our tiny tots of Nursery participated in a hand tracing activity as they performed palm printing to make a trunk of a tree, they used brown color and made the leaves by finger stamping which makes the learners excited to . In this engagement learners used their creativity in a different way to enhance their thinking and aesthetic skills.

Math: hello beautiful Black!

Colours play a very important role in our lives. The ability of a child to identify colours is considered to be very important in a child's cognitive process. Young children love colours. It easily catches their eye and grabs their attention.

This week k1 learners were introduced with black colour. They were asked to wear black colored dress and bring a black color toy. They were having fun as they all had worn similar colored dress. Later the teacher explained them black color through PPT and real life objects. Our tiny tots of K1 engrossed themselves with an activity of drawing and coloring a black object on a sheet.

Art : meet my action figures

Art offers young children to explore colors, textures, and science. It gives them the chance to strengthen fine motor skills and hand strength. It’s an opportunity to be creative, to explore new ideas, and carry out plans. It can be messy and inhibited, or thoughtful and meticulous. Art is the perfect activity for young children!

Thumbprint art is a simple and fun way to boost fine motor and pre-writing skills in preschoolers and kindergartners. Little ones will love pressing their fingers into stamp pads or paint and building cute and surprising shapes.

The enthusiastic little learners of k1 dipped their thumb for printing different figures on a sheet of paper. Then they drew its features with the help of a marker. In this engagement learners used their creativity in a different way to enhance their thinking and aesthetic skills.

Celebrations @ Olive Trails

Theme Presentation- Nursery & K1

Theme presentations give children an opportunity to stand up in front of their friends and family and perform on topics that they have learnt during their school journey. It builds confidence and helps children develop effective communication skills. The use of presentation props makes for a much more interesting performance and can help develop students' confidence. It provides an opportunity to use descriptive language, concept thinking, story telling and so forth. It helps build social skills and enhances self esteem of the child.

Our tiny tots of Nursery and K1 presented a spectacular show of their learnings that they have acquired during their class journey. They presented marvelous performances as they narrated stories, spoke about horticulture, recited rhymes, grooved to Zumba, spoke about various modes of transport, demonstrated number games, spoke about letters and sounds and so much more. Our parents were ecstatic to witness every performance which was showcased by our learners with confidence, style and panache.

PIONEERS OF TOMORROW!

Chiseling and enhancing qualities and competencies in our learners is what Olive Trails has always focused upon during the course of our academic years. To culminate the learnings derived with regards to our qualities and competencies, we invited our learners to share about what a few of these qualities mean to them. We created an e-book where we assembled all the inputs shared by our learners. Below are the links for you to have a look-

Hope you enjoy the books!
