IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Art classes :Wednesday 4/8 through Monday 4/13 . On the day your child has art class this should be their attire:
-school uniform (I would recommend not wearing long sleeves)
-a large shirt ( smock ) that covers as much of their uniform as possible
- sunglasses
DEAR- *Students need a book to read at all times for when we have DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) in the morning and in the afternoon. Each student will do an oral presentation ( 1 per trimester) on a book they have read. See information under the Grade 5 Grammar and Writing Homework tab.
*SUPPLIES- Workbooks are to be covered with clear contact paper. Math textbooks are to be covered with a paper cover or an large size book sock. Students are not permitted to write in the math textbooks. Students need all necessary supplies at all times to be prepared for class. Please replenish your supplies throughout the year.
CHROMEBOOKS are to be fully charged each night. If students do not have a Chromebook for class they will be unprepared for class and need to complete the classwork for homework. Chromebooks are to be in a case. Chromebooks are for instructional purposes only. They are not to be used for games or personal reasons at school or at home.

ALL CLASSES- TEXTBOOKS SHOULD BE COVERED WITH A LARGE SIZE BOOK SOCK OR PAPER COVER, AND WORKBOOKS ARE TO BE COVERED IN CLEAR CONTACT! Textbooks are NOT to be written in.
Replenish supplies- Students should have pencils, looseleaf, graph paper, index cards, red pen, ruler, yellow highlighter, whiteboard, and a whiteboard marker and eraser. Students will receive an incomplete slip if they are not prepared.

5th Math :
To practice your addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, use IXL Grade 2 Section I # 1 and 2 and section G # 1,2,and 3. Grade 3 Section Q # 1,2 and 4 and section W # 7,8 and 10.

4/7- Google classroom assignment titled "addition and subtraction of fractions with the same denominator". Finish the word problems on the 2nd page of the assignment from class today (# 27 to 32) and complete the 3rd page in the assignment in your binder. Simplify all of your answers!
4/8- Test signed tonight. Google classroom assignment titled " Addition and subtraction of fractions with different denominators". Complete page 2 # 6 to 24 EVEN and # 25 and 26. Complete page 4 #6 to 24 EVEN and # 25 and 26. Simplify all of your answers ( reduce to lowest terms and change improper fractions to mixed numbers)
4/9- Google classroom assignment titled "Add/subtract fractions (same denominator), do page 3 ODD numbers only. Test on Tuesday on addition and subtraction of fractions with like and unlike denominators. 5th Grammar and Writing:
* There will be questions on every test titled "Blast from the past". These will be concepts that we have covered throughout the year.
*Book Presentations for the 2nd trimester are due by March 20th. You will not be able to present on a day that someone else is presenting, so when you are finished reading your book, choose your presentation day! There are 5 presentation options to choose from. You can only use each option once throughout the year. #1- Write a diary entry from a character's point of view showing their perspective on an event from the story. #2- Write a letter to a friend recommending the book; explain why you liked it and why you think they would like it. #3- Turn a part of the story into a 5 part comic strip. #4- Design a new book cover with a title and illustration ,and on the back write a short summary of the book. #5- Dress up as a character from the book ( you can accessorize) and tell the story from your point of view.
**THIRD TRIMESTER BOOK REPORT PRESENTATIONS ARE DUE ON OR BEFORE TUESDAY, JUNE 2ND.
