Dear Parents,
I am thrilled to be beginning year five as part of the OLGC community. I will begin my music classes this
coming week and your children continue to be a delight! In addition to our music classes, I will soon
begin teaching instrumental music lessons to interested students in Grades 4 through 8.
This coming week, I will give an instrument demonstration during your child’s music class. It will be a
great chance for the students to see each of the instruments up close. We also will view a great video on
elementary school bands (Be Part of The Band). I have posted this video on both my classroom and band
websites. I encourage you to watch it as a family and decide if music lessons could be a learning as well
as fun opportunity for your child. I would love to have as many interested students as possible
participate.
Information on instrument rental is also available on my band website. Music and Arts is a local chain of
music stores that I recommend. They have a generous rent to own program and a very reliable customer
service record.
Lessons will take place during the school day, on a rotating schedule, with students grouped by liked
instruments of between three to five. A schedule will be posted on my website once I get confirmation. I
am hoping for a restart of lessons for older students the week of 9/15. New students will begin the
following week - 9/22.
Looking forward to another fun year filled with music and learning. It will be exciting to see how our
students grow musically. FYI – Our Christmas Concert will be Wednesday, December 10
th at 1:45pm.
