Reading Spelling Words:
With the change of curriculum, the lack of books, and the change from 3rd to 4th grade, I wanted to make the transition as easy as possible for the students. Before, I would use the spelling words in the reading curriculum in lessons to help make the kids familiar with the words, but it was never tested. Now that I feel they are ready, we are going to begin learning and testing our spelling words for reading. There are 28 words total. Tests will be broken in half, so the first 14 words will be tested, then a week later, the last 14 words.
M-Th Vocab Sentences:
Write 2 sentences for each vocabulary word listed for the day.
Vocab Flashcard (FC) Matching Game Directions:
All flashcards should be separated from each other.
Flip each flashcard so that the back is up.
Either by yourself or with a partner, take turns flipping over the vocabulary flashcards.
The goal is to match the word with its definition.
Whoever has the most matches wins.
After playing, paper clip the flashcards to each other and place them in your flashcard bag.
Bring the flashcards in your flashcard bag to school tomorrow.
Monday - Wednesday Reading Homework:
Students will complete the homework on top of their daily reading on Monday- Wednesday. Thursday- Sunday, they will need to continue their daily reading, but they will not complete any related questions. They are to answer the question for each day. Then turn the homework in on Thursday morning. Each week will be graded out of 3 points for completion. If a day is not completed, the student loses a point. If they do not write in full sentences when it is required, they will lose a point.
SS Summary Questions:
The header should include the date, Summary Questions, the chapter and lesson number, the page number, and the question numbers.
Students should write the question number, followed by the question, and then the answer. If the question takes up multiple lines, skip a line to help identify between the two questions.

Add a ? next to HW Problems:
If your child is struggling with a homework problem, please either write "attempted but struggled" at the top of the paper or write a ? next to the specific problem.
This will let me know they need certain concepts reviewed so they can confidently answer questions on the homework.
