Summit County and the Great War is a collaborative partnership between the Akron-Summit County Public Library, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Summit County Historical Society and the University of Akron Archival Services, formed to commemorate Summit County's contribution to the U.S. war effort during World War One (1917-1918).

Historic Map Works The core of the collection consists of over 1,564,517 cadastral, land ownership maps detailing the geographic and development history of the United States over several hundred years. It can be used to find historic maps from all over the world.
My Heritage WorldVitalRecords.com was founded in 2006 to provide simple access to more than 4.2 billion names in family history record collections worldwide, including the US Census from 1790-1940.
Special Collections Local and genealogical resources Online catalogs, finding aids, indexes and databases can help you locate books, newspapers, microfilm and archival sources in our collection. Many of these are stored in our workroom. Once you find an item of interest, please ask at the reference desk to view it in the research area. Special Collections holds the document and photograph collections of the Summit County Historical Society, www.summithistory.org.
Vertical files located in the research area are organized by name or subject and contain clippings from newspapers and other publications.
We carry many Summit County high school and University of Akron yearbooks.
