Principle Based Resolutions

Collaborative Family Law

Old Town Legal Services advances and specializes in Collaborative Family Law.

Collaborative Family Law is resolving family law disputes, such as Divorce and Custody matters, outside of litigation and a court setting.  The parties sign an initial participation agreement to commit them to resolving the matter outside of court.  The parties and their attorneys then hold a series of meetings to negotiate and resolve each issue.  The process also uses financial planners and/or mental health professionals as neutrals and as coaches to help provide them with information, plans, and tools for resolution.  The collaborative process is designed to help clients preserve respect, communication, and co-parenting skills for the betterment of all involved.
