Welcome from the Friends of Old Rochester Music (F.O.R.M.)

Friends of Old Rochester Music (F.O.R.M.) is the non-profit, booster group for music students in the Old Rochester Regional School District. We are an all-volunteer organization raising funds to provide scholarship awards to graduating music students, support performance opportunities, and purchase additional equipment and supplies beyond the regular school budget.

ORR district’s elementary school music students participate in the annual F.O.R.M. Choral and Instrumental Concerts, along with music students from the junior and senior high schools. These concerts showcase the talent and dedication of our music students and directors, culminating in a district-wide grand finale performance.

At the junior and high school levels, F.O.R.M. works directly with the music directors, providing volunteer and financial support to supplement the music programs. Being a F.O.R.M. volunteer provides parents, guardians, and friends an integral role in their student’s musical education experience.

Your active participation is vital to F.O.R.M.’s mission to ensure that our talented student musicians have the resources they need to flourish and continue to enrich our community with music.

We invite you to learn more about this dynamic organization. Please join our monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in ORRJHS Community Room or as otherwise noted.

Both events start at 6:30 pm and will be held in the high school gymnasium. What do F.O.R.M. Volunteers do?

Volunteers are needed to help at ORRHS/JHS concerts by handing out concert programs and flyers. We plan fundraising events (Concert Program Advertisers and Sponsorships, Brunch at The Inn at Shipyard Park & F.O.R.M. Choral and Instrumental Concerts) that bring our music students out into the community to perform. By removing from the music classroom the distraction of selling merchandise, our students can focus on music. Together we celebrate and embrace the abundant talent developed through dedication and commitment to our Old Rochester Regional Music Programs. Please join us at the next meeting and learn about the many ways you can make a difference.

Your help is appreciated!

F.O.R.M. 's 2018-19 gifts & 2019-20 hopes!

This past Spring, F.O.R.M. was pleased to announce the purchase of two significant musical instruments for the ORR Music Programs: a chime set for the Junior High School and tympani drum for the High School. The addition of these two instruments will enhance the students' music education and experience for years to come. Thank you to our many supporters, sponsors, advertisers, and volunteers; your generosity has made these gifts possible! As the new school year begins, F.O.R.M. would like to extend an invitation to any parents and family members of student musicians to join us at our 6:30 pm meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Community Room at the JHS. There we hope to share ideas for future fundraisers in order to continue providing both hands-on and monetary support to our young music makers and their educators.

Exciting news!

The ORR School District has been designated one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation. We are one of 14 communities in Massachusetts to be honored. The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.

A big thank you to all of FORM for being such an important part of our music education community! ~ Richard Laprise, ORRJHS Band Director
