BIEMS Athletics

Belle Isle Middle School Athletics Program

The philosophy of the Belle Isle athletics program is to cultivate an attitude of high character, sportsmanship, teamwork, commitment and  a healthy respect for all aspects of team sports.

Through the sports program, we attempt to use athletics to develop a well rounded educational experience.  It is our objective to field the most competitive, high character teams possible.  Please remember that the coaches are professional educators, and their judgment is based on what is best for the team as a whole.

The BIEMS athletics program has certain requirements and expectations. The following are our student and parent/guardian requirements:

Academic Requirements

BIEMS and OKCPS use a weekly grade check on Mondays to ensure student athletes have no failing grades.  If a student’s grade falls below a 60% in any class, they are given a 7 day probationary period to raise grades.   If after this 7 day period the grade is still an F, they will become ineligible.

Behavior Expectations

BIEMS student athletes are required to exhibit a high level of character and respect at all times.   The athlete must hold him/herself accountable in the classroom as well as on the playing field.  They are a representation of what BIEMS stands for.

Parent/Guardian Support Expectations

The success of our sports programs has been directly influenced by the positive support of parents/guardians.  BIEMS expects parents and guardians to hold themselves equally accountable to high character standards when cheering and supporting the teams.  Positive encouragement of our athletes gives them the atmosphere they need to enjoy their sport.  There will be no tolerance for negativity towards players, coaches, opposition, and especially officials. This includes no foul language or trying to coach your child.
