Trevor was poised to make contributions to this year’s varsity baseball team in a number of possible ways. He is a pitcher/outfielder who was scheduled to be in a long relief role and look to win time in the outfield when he was not on the mound. Trevor worked extremely hard and had a great attitude coming into this season. He is one of the most competitive players on the team and an excellent teammate. Trevor made big contributions to the JV team last season ending with a .321 batting average while leading the team in plate appearances (39), doubles (2) and RBI (10). Trevors favorite memory is the trip to Florida last season. His favorite MLB player is Mike Trout. Trevor’s piece of advice for younger teammates is “Always work your hardest even if you made the team and are a starter, there’s always room for improvement.” Best wishes to Trevor Aman at Indiana University of Pennsylvania this fall.
Paige has been a manager/scorekeeper for the baseball team over the past three seasons. Paige worked hard to learn the Gamechanger program of keeping score when she came on board her sophomore year. Her contribution to the program the last three seasons have been vitally important. Accurate statistics and pitch counts in a key component to a high school baseball program. She was always very reliable and worked well with her counterpart Samantha. Paige will be sorely missed next season. Paige’s favorite OJR baseball memory is the team’s nine game winning streak last season. She is a true Phillies fan so her favorite MLB players are Scott Kingery and Rhys Hoskins. We want to wish Paige the best of luck at Penn State University.
Austin had proven himself to be a very talented varsity level player last season and was in a position to really show his talents at third base this season. As a junior Boa spent time at both second base and third base. While he is a very talented wrestler, Boa’s baseball skills don’t have to take a backseat. He is a very athletic young man with a competitive yet calm demeanor. Austin is the kind of player you want at the plate or making the play when the game is on the line. There was never a day that Boa didn’t come to practice ready to work hard and make himself a better player. He ended last season with .259 batting average, scored 14 runs and stole 7 bases. Boa’s favorite MLB player is Bryce Harper. His favorite baseball memory was competing in the PAC tournament last season. Austin’s advice to younger teammates is “Enjoy everything while it lasts.” Austin has a few options he needs to decide on for the fall.
Ethan was coming into his senior season with a new found passion and drive to compete. His work ethic and attention to detail in the preseason was outstanding. Bernie is an outfielder/DH who was poised to make contributions with his bat. His superior hand-eye coordination coupled with terrific bat speed makes him a difficult out for any pitcher. One of Ethan’s favorite baseball memories was hitting a triple against Reading High School and celebrating with Coach Yoder at 3rd base his sophomore season. Bernie’s favorite major league baseball player is Christian Yelich. His piece of advice for the younger players is “Enjoy the game while you can, because it won’t be there forever. Establish a great teammate chemistry and a great bond, and always give the game your 100% effort by working hard on and off the field.” Good luck to Ethan at West Chester University next fall.
Connor has spent two years in the OJR baseball system. This would have been his first season with the varsity as a catcher and first baseman. It is always enjoyable to watch players improve and get better through hard work. Connor is a classic example of a player who is very coachable, wants to learn so they can get better and also has the work ethic to make it happen. Connor’s skills behind the dish has steadily improved along with his arm strength. He is a terrific teammate and a positive influence because Connor truly loves the game. As for MLB favorites, Connor likes Andrew Mccutchen. His favorite memory is having the opportunity to play on a team with so many great friends. Connor’s advice to the younger guys is “always work hard and give 100%.” Best of luck to Connor in college next fall.
Sam has been with the program as a manager/scorekeeper for the past three seasons. She always came to games ready to help in any way to help the OJR baseball program. Sam joined the team with a solid baseball knowledge that only improved over the years. She worked well with her counterpart, Paige in keeping accurate statistics, was always ready to take substitutions for the home plate umpire and was always in the games. Her reliability really helped games go smoother. Sam’s favorite Major League Team is the Phillies. She will be pursuing Exercise Science at West Chester University in the fall.
Jarrett has been in the OJR baseball system for the past three seasons. He has primarily been a second baseman but also spent some time at shortstop and third base when needed. Jarrett was a solid contributor on the JV team last season, finishing with a .350 batting average, 8 RBI and 9 runs scored. He is a solid bat at the plate, a very fast and intelligent base runner and a consistent fielder. There is never a question about Jarrett’s love of the game and his baseball knowledge. He is one of those players that anticipates well and can think on his feet defensively. Jarrett is very coachable and positive player in the dugout. His favorite memory is getting to play baseball with all his friends. His advice to his younger teammates is “Don’t take anything for granted and continue to play baseball for as long as you can.” The Boston Red Sox is Jarrett’s favorite Major League Team.
This was the first season with Vinny. He joined the team as a team manager. Vinny enjoyed being around the game. It showed when he was at all the practices and all the games. Vinny had a number of close friends on the team so Vinny was a positive influence in the dugout and at practice. He was always interested in helping with drills or making sure things were set up so the team could make good use of time and be efficient. Vinny’s advice to you young players is simple, “play hard and focus.” His favorite MLB player is Freddie Freeman from the Atlanta Braves. It was certainly a pleasure having Vinny around this year.
Jon has been in the baseball program for three years. He has spent some part of all three seasons at the varsity level, breaking into the starting lineup towards the end of his sophomore season. He posted a .341 batting average which included 10 runs scored and 11 RBI. Jon also swiped 7 bases in 8 attempts. He used his outstanding speed and strong arm to play excellent defense and earned his First Team All League honors last year. Jon’s favorite MLB player is Mike Trout. His favorite baseball memory is hitting a clutch triple in PACs last season under the lights at Springford stadium. Jon’s advice to younger players is “Don’t stop the grind and always listen to Coach Gilbert. He knows his baseball more than anyone I know.” Jon will continue his education at Lebanon Valley College where he will play football (and hopefully baseball too)!
Jackson has been part of the OJR baseball family for the past three seasons. Jackson has been a tall lanky right handed pitcher waiting for his opportunity to prove himself on the varsity mound. He is a very coachable player who always wanted to improve his game. Jackson has a live arm that produces high velocity and great ball movement. On the Junior Varsity mound last season, Jackson struck out 8 batters in 5 innings of work. Jackson was also a member of the high school basketball team. Jackson’ best baseball memories were the bus rides home after wins. His advice to younger teammates is “make every pitch count.” His favorite major league team is the hometown Phillies. Jackson will be attending Penn State University in the fall.
Logan has been a catcher in the OJR baseball program for the past three seasons. He has been a consistently hard working player who has improved steadily over the past three seasons. Logan is a terrific team player who everyone enjoys being around. Logan is always willing to catch extra bullpens, help give pitchers tips to help them improve and is a great role model to younger players. Last season Logan helped manage the JV pitching staff and was ready for varsity work this season. His favorite Major League player is JT Realmuto. Logan’s favorite baseball memories are being around a great group of teammates who pushed each other and made everything enjoyable. His advice to younger teammates is “do not let anyone outwork you.”
Logan will find himself on the campus of West Chester University in the fall.

He opened his mind to coaching, saw results and has never looked back. Zac’s work ethic has driven him to a league leading pitcher in a short period of time. He earned his spot as the team’s closer last season. His consistency on the mound to deliver save after save was impressive beyond words. In 25 ⅔ innings of work, Zach struck out 34 while walking just 8. He compiled a 0.818 ERA and 8 saves while only allowing 3 earned runs.
