We open at 7:30 am and close at 3:15 most school days. Check the posted schedule on the door for changes.
When we are closed for events such as testing, we are still available. You will see signs directing you to the Library Work Room door.
When you come to the Library during the school day, you must have a written pass from your teacher. Place it in the wooden box, and then sign in on the clipboard next to it.
If you come before school, during lunch, or after school, you do not need to sign in.
If you have any food, or drinks other than water, you need to either put it in your backpack/bag or on the counter near the door, and then take it with you when you leave.
News books rotate consistently on the long shelves. One side is Fiction, the other is Graphic Novels, Biographies, Non-Fiction, and Fiction overflow.
The pillars also showcase any overflow of new books of all kinds.
The Library is divided into 3 primary spaces, with several collections.
We have online catalogs mounted in several locations to help you look for books, but these look different than Destiny Discover.
Fiction is over in the area with the windows. The books in this area all have spine labels that start with FIC.
Non-Fiction is the biggest area in the main space, and the books here are arranged by subject using the Dewey Decimal System. These books have numbers from 000 - 999 to identify where to find them.
Biography (B), the Graphic Collection, (GC) which includes Manga, Picture Books (PB), and World Language books (Language Stickers) are all found on the Wall near the entrance.
If you need help, just ask one of the Library Staff for assistance.
Use Clever on your chrome book and find the icon for Destiny.
Use the Sora icon in Clever (or download the app) to find audio and ebooks.
Go to the Sno-Isle Public Library icon in Clever (or Google it) and see everything they have to offer.
DO's and DON'T's
DO: - Use one of the book return slots to return your books. There is one in the hallway and one in the Library by the check-out desk.
DON'T: - Give your book to your teacher or to a friend to return. There's no guarantee we will actually get it back.
DO: - Push your book all the way into the slot so that it falls into the bin. Otherwise it just sits on the ledge, and we don't know that it is there.
DON'T: - Forget to renew or return your items. Failure to bring back your items on time can result in restrictions and fines. (See the Borrowing Policies below for more information.)
All students and staff have access to the Library printer. In Google, on the menu of printers, it is called the OHHS-Library-Color printer. (You may have to click the down arrow that says ("See more" to see the list.)
Printing is limited to 10 pages/day. If you need more than that, please talk to the Library Staff.
Go to Clever to find all of the online resources the District provides access to.
Here, you can find Destiny and Sora connection icons. When you have opened the platform, use your Google account to log in to access features.
You can also find the World Book Encylopedia, and some ebook reference books in the Gale Resources icon.
How many books can I check out and for how long?
Students can check out up to 5 regular library books for 3 weeks.
Books from the Graphic Collection are checked out for 1 week.
Books are stamped inside the cover (could be front or back) with the due date.
Books can be renewed twice unless there is a pending hold. Ask the Library staff if you want to renew ("to keep a book longer than the given due date") your book.
What happens if I turn in a book late?
Students who have had fines for overdue books are restricted to checking out one book at a time until three books are returned on time.
What happens if I don't turn in my books?
Overdue notices are sent to the student's email account.
Unless/Until overdue books are returned/renewed, no more books may be checked out & weekly notices will continue to be sent to the student's email account.
How am I notified about fines?
When a book is 5 weeks overdue, a fine for the replacement cost is put on the student's Skyward account.
At 6 weeks overdue, a letter is mailed home.
What if I bring back a book that I have been fined for?
If an overdue book is returned undamaged, the fine will be removed from the student's Skyward account. This usually happens on Fridays.
Can I get a refund for a book I paid for?
If an overdue book has been paid for, but then is found and returned, a refund will be issued as long as the book is undamaged and returned within the same academic year it was paid for.
