A digital edition of "The New Ohara-ryu SOKA Magazine with a partial English translation" is now available.


1. On the app, there are three tabs: Bookshelf, Latest, and 小原流eBooks.

2. Choose the Latest tab and select either the Japanese version or the Some English Pages Included version.

3. The Some English Pages Included version cannot be purchased as a monthly subscription. It must be purchased on an individual basis when they become available. A new issue comes out every month. However, the English version will be released one month after the Japanese version.

4. The back numbers, which can be found under the 小原流eBooks tab, are sold only for one year after publication. You will have access to your purchased eBooks until the app is deleted.

Instagram Photo Contest

Theme: Let’s Display Rabbit-ear Iris Arrangements

As part of the“ Project to protect ikebana materials,” we will be holding an Instagram photo contest with reader participation. This year’s theme is“ Let’s Display Rabbit-ear Iris Arrangements”. Let’s create anddisplay rabbit-ear iris arrangements to rejuvenate iris-producing regions.

Judging criteria Ikebana must use rabbit-ear iris as the main material.

The individuality of the arranger should be reflected in the location where the arrangement is displayed as well as the container selected. Note: if rabbit-ear iris is not available in your area, it can be replaced with iris.

How to entry

(1) Search for and follow Ohara-ryu Soka Instagram account (@ohararyusoka)

(2) Take photos using your smartphone or tablet.

(3) Submit photos and comments with two hashtags,“ #displayrabbiteariris” and“ # sokacontest2021

Monday, March 1, 2021 – Saturday, May 15, 2021. ※Japan time

Entry Guidelines

◎Set your camera image quality to high resolution.

◎The hashtag # and numbers should be half-width. If spaces are used within the hashtags, they will not be recognized as the same hashtags as those above.

◎Save a copy of the original image at the time of shooting on your personal device. Winners are required to submit high-resolution image data.

◎At the time of entry, your name and contact information are not required.

Winners will be notified by Instagram direct message at the end of May. Turn on your device’s Instagram notifications.If you do not respond within 10 days after the notification, your entry will be disqualified.

◉ Who is eligible: Anyone studying Ohara-ryu ikebana. Note: Each entrant may submit up to three photos.

◉ Judges: Headmaster Ohara Hiroki and the Council of Ohara Professors
