ACT

The ACT is a college entrance exam that is used primarily by colleges to assist them in determining admission and scholarship criteria for students.  We encourage students who are interested in attending college to take the ACT exam during their junior year and to plan to take the test at least twice.  Several colleges are test optional for admissions, meaning that students can be admitted based solely on their high school GPA and not based on test scores. Keep in mind that many institutional scholarships will still require a test score in order to be eligible.  

In order to register for the exam, students must complete an account at www.act.org.   Students eligible for the Free/Reduced Meals Program are able to receive a fee waiver to cover the cost of the exam fees.  

You must obtain the fee waiver from the Counseling Office prior to registration.

BRIGHT FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIP
To qualify for the Bright Flight scholarship, students must score in the top 5 percent of all Missouri students taking either the ACT or SAT exam. Award amounts are tiered based on whether the student’s score is in the top 3 percent or the top fourth and fifth percentiles. The ACT composite scores that the 2025 high school seniors must meet to be eligible for the Bright Flight scholarship in the 2025-2026 college academic year are the same as last year for the top 3 percent but have changed for the fourth and fifth percentiles. The following table displays the qualifying ACT scores for the 2025 high school graduates:
