Guidelines:
Stories should be between 3-5 minutes.
Choose a folk tale, fairytale, family tale, personal tale, story from a book, or original story. The story should be appropriate for school.
Remember, we don’t memorize a story, we tell a story.
Tandem telling is permitted (2 students telling together).
Stories can be told in any language!
You will submit your story using FlipGrid. Click on your school below to record and submit your story!
Tips for Practicing at Home
Choose a story you know well & think about the beginning, middle, and ending.
Don't just read your story, tell it in your own words!
Think of a fun way to begin & catch the attention of your listeners.
Practice your story again and again, speaking loudly and clearly.
Tell your story to friends and family.
Perform your story in the mirror.
Add hand gestures and use expression in your voice.
Experiment with different voices and pacing.
Sign up to Audition in Your School Library!
After you have practiced your story, sign up for an audion time in your school library. You will tell you story to your school library clerk and may get selected to perform at our upcoming District Storytelling Festival!
Judging criteria:
Poise, vocal clarity, voice expression, eye contact, body language, gestures, familiarity with story, satisfying ending, uniqueness, and audience appeal.
