🏫 OFIS Programs & Engagement
Start With Hello: Next week is Start With Hello week. "The Start With Hello program brings attention to the growing epidemic of loneliness and social isolation—which often leads to bullying, violence, and depression—and teaches young people how to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness."
Bulldog Broadcast Announcements and Theme days:
Monday: Meet and Greet Monday! Find your hello style! Focus on greeting people you know and don’t know at school. A smile, wave, “hello”, good morning, high five, fist bump, handshake, etc.
Tuesday: Wear Positive Messaging Clothing - Be Kind, Choose Kind, Be Positive, etc.
Wednesday: Wear GREEN Wednesday for "Start with Hello" Sandy Hook Promise and mental health awareness
Thursday: Sunshine and Sunglasses - See Something, Say Something in order to keep school a safe and welcoming place. (Wear sunglasses)
Friday: Bulldog Spirit Wear - We are all Bulldogs!

3rd Grade Parent Orientation Slides: Learn more about our 4th grade Intermediate School program.
Clubs & Activities: Offered in coordination with the Olmsted Community Center.
OFIS 5th Grade Choir: Here is the link for the 5th Grade Permission Slip for choir
Chess Club- Chess Club signs up are now open to any 4th or 5th grade student. All skill levels are welcome. The club meets Wednesdays at 7:15 am starting on 9/23. A flyer with additional information is available in the office and parents may sign up online using this link
4th and 5th Grade Boys After School Gym
When: Boys after school gym runs for 8 weeks between mid September to early November. Each grade meets once a week from 2:30-3:15.
Description: After school gym provides supplemental physical education activities. Activities include relays, kickball, dodgeball, soccer, and wiffle ball
How to Join: A permission slip will be sent home in mid-September for boys that are interested.
Science Club: Science Club Sign ups are now available to 4th or 5th graders interested in hands-on science and engineering. Two sessions of the club will be offered (10/14-11/18 OR 1/13-2/17). Each session is limited to the first 20 students who sign up. The club meets after school on Wednesdays and students must have a ride home at 3:10. Additional information is available in the office. Student Council: In October, interested students may fill out a Student Council application. Each homeroom will elect one representative from the pool of applicants. Each month there will be one morning meeting. Student Council's Mission Statement is "to empower students through leadership and service, act as the collective voice of the student body, and foster a positive school community."

📋 Reminders & Expectations
No Food in the Classroom – Snacks/treats must be on the Safe Snack List. Non-list birthday treats should be dropped off in the office and will be distributed at lunch.
Electronic Devices Reminder - Students in grades PreK–5 may not use personal communication devices (PCDs)—including cell phones and SMART watches—during the school day or while riding to and from school on district transportation. This includes the time students walk to and from transfer buses. All devices must be turned off and stored in bookbags or lockers throughout the day. Failure to follow these expectations may result in confiscation or disciplinary action.
Car Riders – Parents must complete an Early Release Form to pick up students at dismissal.
Dress Code – Please review with your child as seasons change.
Identification Required – All visitors must present a driver’s license or state ID at check-in.
