I am a 4th grade math teacher at Olmsted Falls Intermediate School, in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. I grew up in Strongsville and graduated from Strongsville High School in 2005. I received my Bachelor's degree in Middle Childhood education with a concentration in the areas of math and science, along with the generalist endorsement, from Baldwin Wallace in 2009. I taught at Puritas Middle School, in Cleveland, Ohio, for five school years and have been at OFIS for 3 school years. I graduated from Baldwin Wallace this past summer with my Master's in School Leadership. I am a member of ASCD, as well as a subscriber to the Educational Leadership magazine.
In February of 2013, I was awarded with the Cavaliers "Head of Class" award. I was given this award for not only helping to mold the minds of my students in the classroom, but also by helping facilitate their learning and personal growth outside the classroom with a program called PANDA. PANDA (Prevent and Neutralize Drug and Alcohol Abuse) is a program that I have been involved with since I was in middle school. It focuses on helping teens harness their energy in a positive way, through the use of fun and positive peer role models. It is a great program based out of the Summit County Community Health Center. For more information on this awesome program, visit this website.
Since the summer of 2007, I have also worked as a basketball coach and instructor for Head Start Basketball Camp. During this time, I have worked with students from grades kindergarten through eight, working on the fundamentals and working with children on understanding the importance of sportsmanship and treating each other with respect. More information can be found here.
I am currently also working on a brand new basketball podcast, The Hoop Heads Podcast. On this podcast, we discuss basketball for youth, parents and coaches. If you would like to find out podcast, you can find it on he Itunes store, Sound Cloud, or Stitcher.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife Molly, my two sons William and Jacob, and dog Rory. I also enjoy watching all Cleveland sports and playing basketball and golf in my free time.
