The Purple Press: Oxbow's Premiere Source For Exclusive News Coverage

OXBOW, VT - The Oxbow High School Students have brought back the long-honored tradition of student news. Beginning in January of 2021, in the midst of a pandemic, The Purple Press was born by a small group of inexperienced, future journalists with only the librarian to guide them. Was she up to the task? Where they? With only 3 days to plan, they got to work and now they are up to 34 subscribers on their YouTube channel! READ MORE...

Library Updates and Announcments

Fees Forgiven!

Library fees will be forgiven until the end of August! Please get your books back in right away and take advantage of this deal! Options to settle accounts are limited but available. Please ask library staff for details.

Makeover!

The library walls and doors got a few coats of paint over the summer and what a difference it makes. Already I can feel new life breathing in. Three newer, LARGER screens will be mounted on the walls to display student work, news, and more! Let us know what YOU would like to see in the library!

The Purple Press recording & broadcasting studio should be done by Thanksgiving for use outside of Journalism. We'd love to hear your suggestions on other ways to make the entire Library space more useful and meaningful for you. Perhaps nap pods and tea time?

Do you or someone you know have a skill or passion you'd like to share? Sign up to volunteer! Each month we will host a new speaker, workshop, or event. Have a topic or suggestion? Let us know! We'd love to hear from you and look forward to seeing all of your faces again soon!

Policies & Procedures

The library provides equitable access to a collection of print and digital resources and services that meet the diverse needs and interests of our community. The library goals align with the action steps in the ACSD Digital Learning Plan and to the six foundations of the American Association of School Library (AASL) Standards Framework for Learners — Inquire, Include, Collaborate, Curate, Explore, and Engage.

The library upholds the American Library Association Code of Ethics and Library Bill of Rights and preserves the values of an informed citizenry, open and equitable access to knowledge, and intellectual diversity. The function of the library will continue to evolve amidst changing technological and pedagogical conditions in order to help students develop a love and appreciation of reading and literature, ensure freedom of information, prepare information savvy life long learners, and create safe and supportive environments for focused and collaborative learning.
