New Employee Welcome Training
NEWT, or New Employee Welcome Training, is an orderly, thoughtful and somewhat comprehensive approach to preparing employees for the work that they will do for Odyssey House. Some positions, such as Behavioral Health Techs, may find the training for each day particularly relevant and immediately applicable while other positions, such as people in Admin roles, may find it less so. Regardless, it is intended to provide a common entry point around the mission and processes of Odyssey House with regard to client care and business processes that impact the majority of our employees.
Participation in NEWT is recommended for all employees, but is at the discretion of the employees manager. As such, some employees may miss NEWT. This website allows them to have access to the information.
The resources on this webpage are the latest being used. Updates to the materials are made regularly by the L&D Team and, when they are ready, are shared here at the first available opportunity.
The focus of Day 1 of NEWT is to provide all new employees of Odyssey House with a similar foundation around the work they will do at their various locations. Topics covered include completing HR Paperwork (when necessary), an orientation to Paylocity, a discussion of the history of Odyssey House and the values that guide our work. The day concludes with a discussion of Odyssey House Lingo, the Therapeutic Community and the importance of establishing and maintaining Boundaries.
