Hello! I am Mr. Lavoie, and my role as a teacher has slightly changed over the years. For the 2025 - 2026 School year I will be handling MATH and SCIENCE for both 4th and 5th grade. This is a role I have been in for several years now, and look forward to another year of math and science!
We cover a lot of big topics here in math, using the Eureka squared program. My biggest expectations is for my students to work hard and try their honest best. My hope is that we can work together to meet any of the challenges that these topics throw at us.
I have taught 4th and 5th grade science for several years, and look forward to combining my previous experience with our BOCES science kits, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm. I love engaging in conversations and answering questions about science.
Some facts about me:
I LOVE to learn. I always enjoy finding out new facts from news articles, documentaries, magazine articles, as well as books.
I NEVER turn down a trip to a museum. The Smithsonian Museums in Washington D.C. are a favorite. (UPDATE: I got to visit them again in the summer of 2025!!!)
I like to relax with ART. One of my favorite things to do is draw artwork on our whiteboard for students' birthdays.
These pictures are with my family at one of my favorite places to visit growing up: The New Bedford Whaling Museum, as well as in Washington DC.
