In May 2026, our netowrk launched a qualitative research seminar series. Our first speaker was Dr. Antonios Ktenidis, who spoke on the roles of positionality and reflexivity in qualtiative resaerch.
Seminário Educação Física Inclusiva e Pesquisa (November, 2025)
Network members were hosted by Maria Luiza Tanure Alves and the University of Campinas (Brazil) in November 2025 for a symposium focused on inclusion and physical education, where nearly 80 Brazilian scholars and students attended. During the symposium, the first official meeting of the Network took place, where we discussed the future of the Network.
Network members (Maher, Haegele, & Coates) edited a new handbook focused on qualitative research centered on disability in physical education. Network members Ruin, Giese, Alves, and Sharpe authored chapters within the book. The handbook will be released by Routledge in January, 2026.
In June 2025, Network members presented a panel discussion (led by Martin Giese) titled Having the finger on the pulse? Questioning Qualitative Methodologies in APA at the International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity in Tralee, Ireland. Panelists included Janine Coates, Sebastian Ruin, Anthony Maher, Justin Haegele, and Martin Giese (moderator)
Our Network's first collaborative event was a qualitative methodologies in adapted physical activity pre-conference workshop, specifically for doctoral scholars and early career researchers, which took place at the 17th European Congress of Adapted Physical Activity in Seville, Spain (June 2024).
