The Hampton Roads Harp Festival is excited to announce this year's Featured Artist: Harpist Alexander Boldachev. Boldachev will give a solo performance as well as a masterclass and workshop in coordination with the festival.
Alexander Boldachev is a world-renowned virtuoso harpist, composer, and exclusive artist of Salvi Harps. He is the founder of the Zurich Harp Festival, co-founder of the LYUDẎ community, and initiator of World Harp Day. A multi-award-winning musician, he has received honors from prestigious institutions such as “Britain's Brilliant Prodigies,” the Aoyama Music Award in Japan, and the Pro Europa Prize in Austria.
Boldachev began playing harp and piano and composing at age five. He has performed globally, including at Carnegie Hall, Musikverein, and the FIFA World Cup 2018 opening ceremony. He teaches masterclasses at leading institutions like Juilliard, the Royal Academy of Music, and others.
He participates in major festivals and cultural events worldwide, such as Burning Man, Davos, and shows for Burberry and D&G, and collaborates with prominent orchestras across Europe and Russia.

The Hampton Roads Harp Festival and Competition was founded in 2016 at Christopher Newport University; after several years at CNU, the Festival and Competition re-branded to reflect the move to Old Dominion University in 2022. We are the region's oldest and largest harp festival and harp competition, with performers and participants from across the globe. We look forward to welcoming you to our 10th anniversary event February 27-28, 2026 in Norfolk, Virginia.
