According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 95% of kids between the ages of 3-18 use the internet regularly. Pew's Research Center stated that 63% of kids between the ages of 8-12 are affected by cyber crimes. If they do not know how to implement basic security for something that they use daily, these numbers will continue to rise!
During our design thinking process, we realized that kids are not proficient in the implementing simple cybersecurity practice. Although the majority of kids have some understanding of computers, they tend to have minimal knowledge or care for computer security.
We at Hackademia:
have known people that have been a victim of a cyber crime. Unfortunately, it could have been easily prevented had they known how to implement cyber hygiene.
have all attended school from grades K-12, and would have greatly benefited from knowing the basic best practices of cyber hygiene.

"My grandma was a victim of a ransomware attack." -David
"One of the cybersecurity specialist told me that the reason why people don't practice good cyber hygiene practices is not that they don't know but that they underestimate the effectiveness of each practice." - Min
