Odessa R-VII schools utilize Missouri Learning Standards as central benchmarks for student achievement. The standards are broken into student-friendly objectives mastered throughout various units within the school year. The district curriculum consists of a variety of components such as, but not limited to, the following: Missouri Learning Standards, local objectives, teacher-created learning activities, and both formative and summative assessments. Local teachers create engaging activities that incorporate technology, multi-media, a wide variety of texts, hands-on activities, real-world experiences and investigations, problem-based learning, and project-based learning, to name a few. Individual student success is at the heart of instruction making way for differentiated activities and assignments when appropriate.
Within this site you will find each course and/or grade level's year-long curriculum map providing a guide to the units and standards taught across the school year. The district goal is to maintain a guaranteed and viable curriculum, thus it is important to Odessa R-VII administration to provide the opportunity for district teachers to create their own curriculum based on Missouri Learning Standards. Therefore, each curriculum map is unique in structure to accommodate the various contents and needs of the teachers.
