Using all the models learned about on the previous page, review the following situations and answer the guiding questions for each in your workbook:
A. You have committed to a SHSM opportunity (i.e. training/event)but now a better opportunity comes up (i.e. concert, trip, work shift). Backing out won’t “hurt” anyone too much, but it could inconvenience the organizers. What do you do?
B. You are a part of a school project or SHSM activity. One classmate contributed very little but wants to be listed as an equal contributor for the recognition/grade. They’re a friend, and asking you to back them up. What do you do?
Guiding Questions:
What are the consequences of acting vs. not acting?
What policies or rules are being broken?
How would you feel if the decision was made public?
How would the PLUS model be used in this situation?
How would the 5 Step Decision Making Model be used in this situation?
How would the Blanchard-Peale Framework handle this situation?
Which model works best in your opinion for this situation - compare the outcomes based on the three models?
