What is the

SDG Academy?

The SDG Academy is a way for you to learn about important issues that exist in the world today and to think about how we can work together with other in our local community, and people around the world, to improve them. "SDG" stands for "Sustainable Development Goals," and they were created by a group called the United Nations. It has members from nearly every country in the whole world. The purpose of the United Nations is to take action to make the world a better place in many different ways. Watch the video to the left to learn a little more about what the United Nations SDGs are and how we can be involved in helping to achieve them.

Why do the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals exist?

The Sustainable Development Goals were created so that the countries in the United Nations could come to an agreement about the most critical problems that exist in our world, as well as some possible ways to improve or even solve these big problems. The idea is that everyone, all around the world, needs to work together because these problems are too big for any one country to solve on their own.

How can I make a difference?

It may seem like one person can't make much of a difference, but that's not true at all! Every person has the power to make positive changes in our world, regardless of age. There are many young people who are leading others in making these important changes, and we believe that each of you can do the same!

How do you do this? Well, there are a lot of different ways to make changes happen. The first step is to learn about some of the problems that exist. It's hard to make things better if you don't know exactly what's wrong. You can use the pages of this site for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to learn more about what's wrong, why it's happening, and how we might fix it.

Next, you need to find your allies. These are the people who are already trying to solve the problem that you also want to solve. There are many groups and organizations in the U.S. and around the world that are working hard to make positive changes. Find out more about them on the Organizations page of this site to see which ones are focused on the same goal that you are.

Then, on the Authentic Actions page of this site, you will find some ideas about how you can encourage others to support your efforts, and the efforts of your ally organizations. Together we can help improve our world!
