Savvas EasyBridge

A lot of assignments and assessments will be given using this platform. Your username and password should be the same as your OCS username and password. HOWEVER, your password will need to capitalize OCS. I cannot help you if you lose your information. This is a wonderful platform that can break down math problems and help you learn.

You will log in using the Google Classroom code that I provided you in class.

Homework/Classwork:

Homework/Classwork will be a total of 30 points. You earn 20 points for completing the assignment. The other 10 points come from the accuracy of your work. Work that is done in Savvas is automatically graded.

85-100% 10 points

75-84% 8 points

65-74% 6 points

55-64% 4 points

45-54% 2 points

Turning in Homework and Classwork

I encourage you to work together with HW/CW. However, you must put who you worked with. If you do not, it will be considered cheating and you will receive a 0. The purpose of working with someone on CW/HW is to get a different view of math problems. COPYING someone else’s work is CHEATING. This WILL NOT help you prepare for an assessment in my class.

Assessments

You will have quizzes throughout each unit. At the end of each unit, there will be a unit test. Assessments will be a mixture of online and paper. Your cumulative Quarter Exam will replace your lowest test grade.

Videos

I record my lessons. Most videos are anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes long. When needed, you can pause or rewind the video. I encourage you to watch these videos and take/retake notes. Any questions you have from the videos, I can address in class or during tutoring. These videos are very beneficial when preparing for any assessment. If you are absent from class, I suggest watching the lesson before you come back to class the next day. All lessons are uploaded into Schoology by the end of the day.

Ensuring your success

  1. Take notes and work examples When needed, you may want to pause the video or rewind the video. I highly suggest you watch me work the example first and then rewind and work the example with me. When you have a question, write it on a sticky note and put it on your notes.

  2. Make use of the resources in Savvas When you are working through the problems, there is a button at the top right, Question Help. When you click this button, there is a drop down menu : help me solve this, view an example, video (different from mine), contact my instructor. Make use of these tools.

  3. Come to tutoring I am available for tutoring at 7:10. You need to fill out a form and make an appointment. DO NOT JUST SHOW UP! The form must be completed by 3 pm the day before you are requesting.

  4. Do your assignments The best way to study math is by working example problems and working problems from HW/CW

  5. Be Organized Your notes should be dated and titled and put in your binder. Do not just stick the notes in your backpack.

  6. Do not let yourself get behind It is important to ask questions and/or attend tutoring if you aren’t sure about something. Do not allow yourself to get behind.

Opportunities I provide you

  1. Random bonus opportunities are always available (challenge problems, doing bell ringer problems, etc). BONUS POINTS ARE NOT OFFERED INDIVIDUALLY-- everyone will receive the same opportunity to earn bonus points.

  2. Test Corrections available. MUST MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS

    1. HW must be completed ON TIME

    2. Must have earning at least a 90% on each HW

    3. Must make an appointment with me to correct the test

    4. Corrections have to be made 7:10-7:30

    5. Corrections have to be completed in one sitting

    6. Corrections have to be completed 2 weeks after getting your grade.

    7. I cannot go over the problem you missed and tell you what you did incorrectly.

Cheating

Don’t do it. I KNOW when you cheat. This is my warning. You will receive a 0 on the assignment you cheated on and get ISS. If you work with someone on your HW, write at the top of your paper “worked with” and who you worked with so I will know your work will be similar.

I want each and every one of you to be successful in Algebra II. I will do whatever I can to help you. However, you have to do your part and be responsible.
