NOVEMBER 14, 2025
DEAR ALL SAINTS FAMILIES,
Today, I share with you a message and video that was featured on OCSB social media accounts on November 11:
This morning, @AllSaintsOCSB students gathered for a moving #RemembranceDay assembly that featured a heartfelt performance of #InFlandersFields.
Under the direction of Ms. Lisa-Marie Flynn, 46 remarkable #OCSB students, including 8 Grade 7–8 Cadets, 20 Grade 7–8 singers, and 18 Grade 9–12 singers, came together to honour those who have served and continue to safeguard our freedoms in Canada.
Reflecting on the experience, Ms. Flynn shared, “These students have shown up in beautiful ways, rehearsing and trusting the process of learning this piece. I am very, very proud of them.” She also paid tribute to her own family members who fought as young as 15 during World War II, reminding us all of the courage and sacrifice that have shaped our nation.
The performance was deeply moving, a powerful blend of music, emotion, and gratitude that brought many students and staff to tears.
At All Saints, we are truly blessed to be a diverse and caring community, united in remembrance and thankfulness for those who have given so much for our freedom.
#AllSaintsHighSchool #LestWeForget
We thank Ms. Kirtz, Ms. Flynn, Mr. Basicano, and all of the staff who contributed to the ceremony.
IN THIS UPDATE:
Dear ASH Community,
The All Saints Catholic School Council (CSC) has partnered with C.C.Farms for our annual 2025 Holiday Fundraiser: stunning Holiday Planters! The purpose of the ASH CSC is to strengthen, augment and enhance our students' educational experience through example, faith and communication.
The planters are $45 each and all profits received will be used towards supporting teacher and student initiatives. C. C. Farms is a family-run company that has been producing fresh handmade evergreen Christmas products since 1997.
The Holiday Planters are cut and made fresh from local products, in a plastic 2-gallon pot. They fit well into urns and come with a variety of spruce, white cedar, white pine, and red pine (Scotch pine). They are decorated with sumac, and dog wood (tall red sticks) in the center. They will stay green outside until spring!

A new initiative by the Indigenous Student Association (ISA) is the Grandfather Teaching Awards. Each month, teachers will nominate one student whom they feel embodies that month's Grandfather Teaching. These nominations will be reviewed by the Equity Committee, and a winner from each section: 7/8 and 9-12 will be selected. At the end of the year, seven students from the 7/8's and seven from the 9-12s will be given an award. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about Indigenous teachings and offer an opportunity for students to be recognized for their character.
The Month and the Teaching:
1. November: Humility
2. December: Bravery
3. January: Honesty
4. February: Truth
5. March: Wisdom
6. April: Respect
7. May: Love
At the start of each month, homeroom teachers will share the Grandfather Teaching and the qualities that are associated with it. Teachers, resource staff, guidance counsellors, VPs, and the principals can all nominate a student they feel showcases the teaching the best. The Equity Team will read the responses each month and pick a winner which will be announced and awarded at the end of the year.
This initiative brings Indigenous knowledge, values, and teachings—the Seven Grandfather Teachings—into the school community in a meaningful and respectful way. By recognizing and celebrating these teachings, the school promotes understanding and appreciation of Indigenous worldviews among all students and staff to respond to the Calls to Action.
