A NOTE ON SMART GLASSES
The Ontario Ministry of Education issued Policy/Program Memorandum 128 mandates that personal mobile devices, including wearable technology, must be powered off and stored out of sight during instructional time. For students in Grades 7–8, these devices must be stored in lockers during instructional time. For Grades 9-12, they are to be out of sight during instructional time unless explicitly allowed by the teacher. The policy includes smart glasses. We ask that students not wear smart glasses at school.

PROM FUNDRAISERS
We are excited to share two fundraising opportunities to support this year’s Prom!
McDonalds Fundraiser
Our school is partnering with the McDonald’s on March Road (886 March Road) for a fundraiser on Tuesday, February 24th, from 4:00–8:00 PM. During this time, 20% of all purchases will be donated to help with Prom.
To ensure your purchase counts toward our fundraiser, you must present this attached flyer when ordering. The flyer can be presented electronically or can be printed out.
We hope that you can stop by for a salad, dinner, dessert, or a quick snack and help support our students.
Purdy's Fundraiser
This Easter season, we are partnering with Purdy’s Chocolatiers for a chocolate fundraiser. Purdy’s offers high-quality, well-loved treats, making this a simple and enjoyable way to support our prom while picking up Easter gifts for family and friends.
If your child is in grade 12, click the link in their email. If you do not have a child in grade 12, click on this link! If you shop using this link, place your order under your child’s name.
Click on "Start Supporting Now" and start shopping. A percentage of your purchase goes directly to prom. This fundraiser ends on 03/11/2026 with a delivery date of 04/01/2026. Orders will be sent home with students.
Fundraising plays a vital role in making prom truly special. Every order, big or small, makes a difference! Thank you for your support!

RECYCLING
The OCSB has not yet been able to secure a new provider for blue bin services. While we are hoping that will happen soon, in the meantime, we continue to encourage "boomerang" lunches, the use of reusable water bottles, and litterless lunches. We are very happy to see the number of students using re-usable containers and water bottles.

2026 YOUTH OTTAWA 21 UNDER 21 AWARDS
The nominations period for the 2026 Youth Ottawa 21 Under 21 Awards is officially open — and we need your help to spotlight the young people shaping our city.
Do you know someone who is making a difference?
A friend? A classmate? A teammate? Or maybe… that young leader is you.
For nearly 30 years, Youth Ottawa has celebrated youth who demonstrate resilience, initiative, leadership, and heart. These awards are about recognizing the young people who represent the best of us — in their schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities here in Ottawa and beyond.
And here’s what makes this special:
There are no categories.
We don’t believe in putting youth in boxes.
A nominee might have:
Overcome personal challenges
Started a project or initiative
Supported others in meaningful ways
Shown leadership in sports, arts, academics, business, or community service
Made an impact locally or globally
Or quietly demonstrated extraordinary character and perseverance
Leadership looks different for everyone. We want to celebrate the full spectrum of what youth impact can be. If someone comes to mind, take the step. If that someone is you, step forward.
Nominations close May 31st, 2026. NOMINATE HERE
Please share this opportunity with friends, classmates, teammates, and community members. The more stories we uncover, the stronger our city becomes.
With excitement and gratitude,
The Youth Ottawa Team
