Guidance Counsellors

St. Pius X Student Services department supports students with their academic and career goal-setting and planning. Throughout the year, guidance counsellors provide information sessions and individual counselling to help students select courses and plan appropriate pathways leading to the high school diploma and post-secondary programs. Guidance counsellors liaise with teachers, parents and school staff to help students progress academically and to meet their goals.

Guidance counsellors also provide students with short-term personal counselling when needed and are able to refer students and parents to a wide-range of resources within the community.

Guidance Counsellors help and support students with the following:

  • Transitions (from grade-to-grade, for post-secondary)

  • Course selection

  • Pathway planning to determine and meet educational/career goals

  • Registrations for special programs/opportunities: Dual Credit, SHSM, Cooperative Education, Elearning, Summer School

  • College/University preparation and applications

  • Scholarships/Awards

  • Apprenticeship Information/Opportunities

  • Short-term counselling and referrals to long-term counselling (within the school or community)

Our focus is on students’ overall well-being so that they can transition successfully from secondary school to adult life.
