Senior Chemistry

Our Chemistry students learn about chemical trends, chemical bonding, solutions and solubility. They also get an introduction to the world of organic chemistry and energy changes as they apply to rates of reactions. They perform labs and hands-on activities that help reinforce what they’re learning about in class. Here are some of the great things our students do in Grade 11 and 12 Chemistry:

Determine the percentage composition of a salt
Perform acid-base titrations
Identify solutions based on solubility rules
Make esters
Use calorimetry to illustrate Hess's Law
Perform flame tests to identify metal ions
