Visual Arts

Ways of Seeing. Creativity Matters!

Why choose a course in the Arts? Arts courses develop much more than the student’s creativity. The skills they learn, and the ways of seeing that they develop, will enhance and enforce their overall academic achievement in all fields of study.

In the Visual Arts courses, the students will explore and expand their creative side. They will study the elements and principles of art and design and explore numerous and varied media.

Our courses cover three main areas: fine art (painting, printmaking, drawing, graphics, sculpture), crafts (mosaic art, glass art, jewellery and fabric art) and contemporary art ( photography, video art, animation/digital art and graffiti art). Our programs are portfolio based. By the time the student is in grade 12, they will have the skills required to apply to any postsecondary program: architecture, design, animation, fine art, graphic design, illustration, and others. Of course, the courses are also designed for students who just want to have fun and create! Join our classes, become part of the creative community at St. Pius X.
