Cooperative Education (GWL3OD) - 2 credits
Cooperative Education courses allow students to connect classroom learning to meaningful experiential learning opportunities. The teacher supports students in securing a work placement in the community for a full morning or afternoon in a wide variety of areas. Through this placement, students explore a field of interest while also developing valuable employability skills. Cooperative education is an important component of St. Patrick’s SHSM certifications by providing learning experiences in the following industries: Health and Wellness, Information and Communication Technology and Hospitality. Cooperative education courses also support students who are interested in pursuing a career in the trades and can provide students with pre-apprenticeship opportunities through OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program). Students who select cooperative education will be contacted by the teacher to discuss areas of interest and complete an application prior to the course start date.
