How to choose the level of course to take?

Assessing the student’s ability and interests and considering their teacher's evaluations of “essential learning skills” should help determine the pathway best suited for that student.

Locally Developed, Applied or Academic?

Locally Developed Level:

Best suited for students that need to focus on essential , basic skills and knowledge and that learn best on a hands on approach to learning.

Applied Level:

Best suited for students who prefer doing, experiencing and exploring Math concepts. This course emphasizes on the practical and concrete applications of Mathematics.

Academic Level:

Best suited for students who prefer reading, writing and researching Math concepts. This course emphasizes the theoretical and abstract concepts of Mathematics.

Post Secondary Pathways

University Prerequisites:

• Commerce: MHF4U and MCV4U

• Engineering: MHF4U and MCV4U

• Health Sciences: MHF4U or MCV4U

• Arts and Social Sciences: Sometimes MDM4U

College Prerequisites:

• Architectural Technician: MAP4C

• Paramedic: MAP4C

• Fire Fighting: MAP4C

• Business Administration: MAP4C

Early Childhood Education: no prerequisites for Math
