OYAP= Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program

When a Grade 11 or 12 coop student in placed in a trade for coop, we register the student as a participant in the OYAP Program which means the student is registered as a participant in a trade with the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities. If the employer decides to offer the student an apprenticeship after completing the coop work term, then paperwork can be done ( called a Section 2) so that the student changes his/her/their status from Participant to Registered Apprentice.

What is Red Seal Trade Canada?

A Red Seal endorsement is a seal on your provincial or territorial trade certificate. It shows that you have the knowledge and skills necessary to practice your trade across Canada. To get the Red Seal endorsement, you need to pass the Red Seal exam.
