This is my twenty-first year teaching for the Ottawa Catholic School Board. I like to create a positive learning atmosphere where students are encouraged to ask questions, learn, and participate in a safe environment. Mistakes are OK...it shows you are trying.
Mathematics is one of my strengths and love teaching students about the beauty and secrets of this subject. Our EQAO math scores have been recognized by the Ottawa Citizen and EQAO.
I am very enthusiastic about reading and transfer this appreciation to my students. My class has been highlighted by A Channel's Book Club, the Ottawa Citizen's Raise a Reader program, and the Ottawa Senators' Read to Succeed program.
My goal in teaching is not that students memorize basic writing rules and math functions. It is to foster a love towards learning, an appreciation for themselves as individuals, as well as empathy and respect for others.
My approach to teaching, philosophy, and involvement with the school community has earned me a Director of Education Commendation Award from OCSB.
