Algonquin's MakerSpace provides students with virtual access to their amazing facilities including laser cutters, 3D printers, Arduino and Raspberry Pi kits. Students can design various products using Tinkercad and submit design files to Makerspace for prototype and production printing.
THE BIG RESET: Social Entrepreneurs Program is a Lead Learner's Project Funded by the Newfoundland & Labrador English School district (NLESD). The program is a pilot opportunity involving students in 4-6 rural school communities to participate in a Social Entrepreneurial Project that will allow them to build entrepreneurial and social justice skills that will benefit themselves as learners and leaders, their schools, their communities and their world. Based on the results of this program pilot, it may expand to other school communities in 2022-2023.
The Artery Community Roasters employ people living with disabilities, pay them a living wage and maintain a culture of respect, diversity, inclusion and learning. The Artery helps inspire other business to hire more people living with disabilities. The Artery roasts ethically sourced speciality coffee with care, and get it to customers within a week or less of roasting.
The Artery supplies OCSB SEP schools with their coffees at wholesale prices and enables SEP schools to sell The Artery coffees under The Artery brand or under unique SEP school brands at retail prices.
Thirteen A Social Enterprise (13:ASE) is an entrepreneurial program of the Parkdale Food Centre. 13:ASE engages youth seeking employment and skills development opportunities in the operation of a social enterprise. By engaging participants in all aspects of business decisions and development, in a collaborative and supported space, this program helps participants gain strong emotional and social skills as well as confidence in themselves and their future.
13:ASE supplies OCSB SEP schools with their spices at wholesale prices and enables SEP schools to sell the 13:ASE spices under their brands at retail prices.
