HOW CAN I HELP MY CHILD IN MATH?
Parents often ask how they can help their child have greater success at school, and we feel that encouraging and monitoring your child’s use of the supports outlined below would be a big help if your child struggles in math.
My website address is linked to the school main page, and contains general information as well as links to resources I come upon that I feel may be of use to students. https://sites.google.com/ocsb.ca/msbryce/home
INSTRUCTIONAL MATH VIDEOS
For students who struggle in math, I strongly recommend that they make frequent use of the Math Help Videos available on my website.
The link above provides instructional videos on over 60 common math topics (and the list will grow as I find more that I want to share). Students can use these videos to review what they've done in class, see it explained in a different way, and even to review for tests. Skills vary in grade level - some skils they would have learned before coming to MAC (but may need to brush up on) and others they'll learn while they’re here. This is an excellent opportunity for students to take ownership for their learning by reviewing at home.
Many of the videos come from a site called Math Antics. I have purchased a membership so that I can share the material with students, but there is much more help available if you purchase a membership for use at home, including practice sheets and videos showing how to get to the solutions.
It would be reasonable for students to do this type of review 2-3 nights per week.
For students who do not have access to the internet at home, they are welcome to access Homework Club on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays after school, where they can view the videos and test their skills.

PRODIGY MATH https://www.prodigygame.com/
This game has over 1200 skills for students from Grade 1-8 to master and is aligned with the Ontario Math Curriculum expectations. Prodigy math uses artificial intelligence to track what math concepts your child has mastered and systematically fills learning gaps.
It is available for free with no loss of educational quality. (Purchasing the optional parent upgrade provides extra game content - ex: exclusive gear, in-game benefits, etc…)
This program allows you as a parent to monitor your child’s progress through the various math topics.
