Welcome to MCF3M Semester Two 2024!

All work and lessons will be provided in HAPARA. This site is for announcements and test dates.  Please contact me by email if you have any questions or concerns. ( alexandra.rutherford@ocsb.ca )

Please note that I will not be contacting parents after a failed test. I will update on this site when I have handed back a test so you can follow along with your student's progress.

We will be using the 11 Functions and Applications Math textbook and Mathspace.

Suggestions to ensure success:

1. Come to class prepared. Please bring textbook, notebook, pencil, ruler, eraser, scientific calculator, and a device. Graph paper and whiteboard markers are also recommended. Students are allowed to use their phones during class (for academic reasons) but not for quizzes or tests. (Bring a calculator!)

2. Use the extra help on Hapara when struggling with a concept. TVO Mathify provides free online tutoring.  Students can go to student success room 246 if they need help finding a tutor.

3. Always check your homework answers! Textbook full solutions can be found on HAPARA.

4. PARTICIPATE in class and ask for help when needed. Mistakes are good! They lead to learning.

5. Although all notes are on Hapara, making your own notes has been proven to help students better understand the material. Students are encouraged to make their own note for each lesson. Students that have a hard time following the lesson during class time are encouraged to go over the note on Hapara  BEFORE each lesson.

An 11M class of 35 comes with some challenges but overall I have really enjoyed both groups!

I wish everyone all the best Semester two. :)

I am not sure how helpful this site is. If you are reading this and found the updates helpful, please let me know so I know to continue this with my classes next semester. Thank you! ( alexandra.rutherford@ocsb.ca )
