The following is a list of 10 TIPS to be successful in a 1st year Math course.
The list was complied by a retired Carleton University Professor, Dr. Michael J. Moore. He was the professor of Mrs. Berry when she attended Carleton for her math degree.
Math Specific Tips:
1. manipulation of expressions (needed to solve equations)
2. factoring polynomials
3. definitions of the trig functions
4. quadratic formula
5. trigonometric identities
General Tips:
6. write a complete sentence
7. use the index in a text book (!!!)
8. read their notes between lectures
9. stay awake in class :-)
10. ask questions when unsure of material rather than waiting for the end of the class.
