Mr. Moriarty's class

Welcome to our Grade 5 & 6 class page!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Grade 6 & Grade 5 classrooms and introduce myself to you. My name is Brendan Moriarty and I will be your child's teacher at St. Clare. This is my second year at St. Clare, having taught the previous three years at Our Lady of Peace, where I taught grades 4 & 6.

Throughout my 15 years of teaching, I have taught grades 4-9, both in Ontario and the United States. My classroom and teaching philosophies are meant to encourage students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners through meaningful and engaging learning opportunities. To accomplish this, we will complete an initial survey whereas our students communicate their strengths, areas they can improve upon, and areas of interests.

In the hopes of making communication simple and straightforward, I am focusing on communicating with parents via email, my Twitter page (@BrenMoriarty), as well as my YouTube channel. I will be posting to Twitter regularly and links to YouTube videos with classroom updates will be found on my Twitter feed as well.

Furthermore, your child has a Google account which they have access to outside of school. All major assignments will be shared via their class folders for both their and your convenience. Many in-class documents will be shared as well in order to make as many resources available to our students as possible.
